We currently have an opportunity for a Chemometrician to join our site
wide Statistics Team in New Product Introduction. The position will
involve working in a manufacturing environment developing techniques and
applications for multivariate statistical process control (MSPC).
Key objectives will be to:
· To be an active member of cross-functional new technology teams
· Design experiments to develop new technologies and enhance process
knowledge
· Design and implement data collection for continuous process
analysis
· Develop multivariate models using process and analytical data,
e.g. applying Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Partial Least
Squares.
· Provide support for statistical data analysis
The successful candidate will have:
Essential
· Degree or PhD in Science or Engineering with applications in
chemometrics or multivariate statistics
· A good understanding of multivariate data analysis techniques and
their practical application, particularly with respect to real-time data
analysis for process monitoring and modelling.
· Some experience of analysing spectroscopic data, such as UV, NIR,
Mid-IR, acoustics and Raman using chemometric techniques.
· Familiarity with basic statistical principles and more importantly
advanced multivariate statistics, e.g. Principal Component Analysis and
Partial Least Squares. Familiarity with experimental design would also be
required.
· Excellent communication skills at all levels, to be able to
explain statistical analyses to non statisticians.
Desirable
· Experience in analytical chemistry or chemical engineering.
· Familiarity with multivariate data analysis software packages such
as SIMCA-P.
Additionally they will need to be:
· Self motivated and enjoy working independently and across
functional boundaries
