The LTSN Maths, Stats & OR Network is continuing its programme of full-day regional courses and workshops - The Day Break Programme - with the aims of:
- bringing new research developments into teaching;
- reinforcing basic technical knowledge and skills;
- improving classroom practice and technique.
Five courses planned for 2004-2005 are:
* Teaching Undergraduate Statistics using 'R', Charles Taylor, Wednesday 24th November 2004 at the University of Leeds.
* Regression Diagnostics, Anthony Atkinson, Thursday 20th January 2005 at the RSS offices, London.
* Teaching Bayesian Statistics to undergraduates, Deborah Ashby, Thursday 3rd February 2005 at the RSS offices, London.
* Forensic Statistics, Colin Aitken, April 2005 - date to be confirmed, at Edinburgh University.
* Medical Statistics, Nick Fieller, Wednesday 11th May 2005 at The Nottingham Trent University.
These will be full-day courses and will carry a nominal fee of £50 including refreshments (coffee, lunch and tea) and course materials.
