PROFESSOR OF STATISTICAL BIOINFORMATICS
School of Mathematical Sciences
In a joint initiative between the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and
Mathematical Sciences and the Faculty of Sciences, the University of
Adelaide is providing a major boost to its capability in Bioinformatics.
As a key element in this process, the University has established a
Chair of Statistical Bioinformatics within the School of Mathematical
Sciences in the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical
Sciences. The appointment will be initially for a period of five years.
Applications and expressions of interest in this position are now invited.
You will be expected to provide academic leadership and vision for the
disciplines of Statistics and Bioinformatics within the School of
Mathematical Sciences and to establish active links with the Faculty of
Sciences, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the School of Computer Science
to consolidate the development of Bioinformatics as a key area of strength
within the University.
You should have:
* an internationally recognised research record in Statistics or
Biostatistics with evidence of current high quality research in
Bioinformatics
* evidence of effectiveness in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
and supervision
* a willingness to represent and promote Statistics and Bioinformatics
both within the University and the wider community
* a strong commitment to the further development of Bioinformatics
within the University
The research area of applicants may be in any area of statistical
Bioinformatics, but applicants of high calibre with research interests
in gene expression analysis or statistical genetics, would be preferred.

Salary: $106,161 per annum, plus attractive superannuation benefits.
Assistance with removal expenses to Adelaide will be provided.
This fixed-term position is available from 1 January 2005 for an
initial period of five years.
