Opportunities in Epidemiology & Statistics
Buxton, Derbyshire
The Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) is Britain’s leading industrial
health and safety research facility. Our scientists and engineers are
involved in a wide range of projects, often working within multi-
disciplinary teams, contributing directly to improving the lives of working
people. The Health and Safety Executive, our parent body, is our primary
customer but we are increasingly developing our customer base throughout
the public sector and private industry.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for HSL to establish a new team of five
Epidemiologists and Statisticians plus support staff. The team will work in
partnership with HSE to undertake research and support activities. This
would include the management and maintenance of a number of databases of
National importance. The team will also develop quality assurance
procedures for data management and help to supply statistical information
on businesses in the UK, particularly focusing on the examination of trends
in reporting RIDDOR incidents.
In addition to the research and support work with HSE, we will also be
seeking to develop the work of this team to offer services to non-HSE
customers in occupational health and safety issues.
