The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock,
Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a
Research Scientist
to work in its Statistics Laboratory.
The successful candidate will provide statistical expertise, adapt and
further develop statistical methods, and advise researchers of the Research
Program on Fertility and Family Dynamics. His or her main responsibility
will be the provision of methodological support and the development of
methodology for the analysis of a large multi-national panel survey on
fertility behavior and family formation, including contextual
non-quantitative information. A sound background in the analysis of
longitudinal data and panel surveys is required. Familiarity with methods of
event history analysis is an advantage.
Candidates should have a PhD in Applied Statistics or Social Science, with a
strong background in data analysis and statistical modelling, along with a
proven ability to engage in interdisciplinary research. As the MPIDR is an
international research institute, fluency in English is expected.
The appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of a two-year
extension. The salary is in accordance with German federal remuneration
schemes (BAT-O IIa/Ib).
