The Queensland Cancer Fund is seeking an Epidemiologist with vision and
drive to head its Epidemiology Unit within the Centre for Research in Cancer
Control in Brisbane, Australia. The successful applicant will join a dynamic
team in one of the most successful cancer control organisations in
Australia.
The Queensland Cancer Fund (QCF) is dedicated to supporting and conducting
research, cancer surveillance and community programs to reduce the burden of
cancer. The QCF houses the Centre for Research in Cancer Control,
incorporating an Epidemiology Unit and a Behavioural Science Unit, and also
houses a well-established Community Services Section which delivers
state-wide cancer control programs. All sections work in concert as part of
an integrated approach to cancer control based on surveillance, research and
evidence-based interventions.
The Epidemiology Unit was established in 2001 and is engaged in a number of
research projects in cancer causation, screening, cancer management and
outcomes. Working with the Director of the Centre for Research in Cancer
Control, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved
in an exciting set of existing projects and will provide leadership in the
development and expansion of the Epidemiology Unit into the future. This is
an ongoing position and an initial 5-year contract will be offered. An
attractive salary package will be negotiated commensurate with
qualifications and experience. Suitably qualified applicants will have the
opportunity for adjunct joint academic appointments with our academic
partners the University of Queensland and the Queensland University of
Technology.
