Our client is a research-based global pharmaceutical company with worldwide
revenue of over $10 billion USD.  We are in the process of recruiting a new
Director IT, Biometrics & Data Management for the European Research &
Development Centre in London, United Kingdom.


THE POSITION

The Director of IT, DM & Biometrics reports to the Global Head of DM &
Biometrics in the United States.  It plays a pivotal role in working with
the two development teams in this highly leveraged model, ensuring protocol
review meets the stringent global standards.  All projects will be global in
nature working in unison with global teams to ensure submissions are
seamless in the regions.  This uniformity of the submission process is core
to the continual globalisation of the organisation reaching out from the
research base in Japan in to the core hubs in Europe and America.

The team consists of:

                1 Data Manager
                2 Biostatisticians
                2 IT Personnel

The European R&D Centre undertakes approximately 50 Phase I-IV studies per
year, utilising external CRO resources in a substantial way, which requires
intensive liaison with the various groups to maintain best practice. The
successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing and
managing the key functions in the group.

The principle responsibilities of the Director IT, DM & Biometrics will be:

*       Participate in formulating, and implement, strategy business plans
and corporate governance to bring drugs to market at European and Global
levels
*       Ensure the provision of statistical plans and analysis for clinical
drug trials, clinical trial reports and protocols
*       Manage the IT function to ensure the smooth running of the
operational IT environment and the smooth running of IT systems
*       Manage the Data Management function to ensure an effective data
management process.
*       Contribute to and implement policy and plans relating to European
operations aimed at achieving optimal drug development
*       Assist in creating and communicating an employment culture and
values which attract, retain and develop the most effective people at all
levels
*       Liaise with colleagues globally and contribute personal and team
input to Global Project Teams to optimise the effectiveness of IT, DM and
Biometrics for global drug development
*       Contribute to the development and performance of teams capable of
delivering assigned drug development projects to agreed time, quality and
budget requirements
*       Make strategic IT, DM and Biometric decisions and exercise personal
decision making authorities in a timely and cost effective manner
*       Lead and/or contribute personal and team input to Global Project
Teams to maximise effectiveness of drug development
*       Represent Europe R&D Centre at GDC and Group meetings and the
Company at global external meetings and conferences
*       Undertake projects as required by MD or Group

*       THE CANDIDATE
*
*       The individual will have a proven track record in this field and
this role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to craft an
influential role within a rapidly changing global organisation.

*       Specifically, candidates should have:
*
*       PhD/equivalent with statistical background
*       Ideally 10 years in Biometrics in pharmaceutical R & D
*       Experience of multi-disciplinary, international drug development in
a variety of therapeutic areas
*       Experience of running Data Management and IT functions
*       Well developed strategic and political awareness
*       Track record of delivering large projects to time, quality standards
& budget
*       Very high level of skill in communicating orally & in writing
*       High level of skill in comprehension, synthesis and analysis of
complex data
*       Well developed planning skills
*       Well developed skills in teambuilding, motivating & developing
people
