The MRC Biostatistics Unit aims to advance medical science by the
development and application of statistical methodology. It is one of the
leading European centres for both applied and methodological
biostatistics, and includes a number of internationally renowned
statisticians.
You should have (or be submitting) a PhD to apply for this two-year
position that has the possibility of an extension for a further year
subject to securing additional funding. The focus is on complex Bayesian
modelling and model uncertainty, with likely applications including
missing data problems and cost-effectiveness analysis. The work will
constitute both methodological research and collaboration in applied
studies, and will take into account the skills and interests of the
appointee. The appointee will work with Professor Simon Thompson, the
Unit Director, and other senior scientists in the Unit.
The starting salary will be in the region of £24,500 – £25,750 per annum
depending on qualifications and experience. This is supported by a
flexible pay and reward scheme and optional final salary MRC Pension
Scheme. We can offer annual holiday entitlement of 30 days plus public
holidays and excellent on-site sports and social facilities.
