***Apologies for cross posting***
We would like to draw to your attention the following event, which takes
place on Friday 12 March 2004 at the Royal Statistical Society in London.
Weighting the Social Surveys
Weights are increasingly used in social surveys to adjust for complex
sample design or non-response. They are particularly important in a
context of declining response rates and for longitudinal surveys. This
workshop will bring together speakers from the organisations that design
and execute the surveys and researchers who use the data. We hope that the
day will provide non-expert users with a greater sense of how and when to
use weights available in many datasets.
The day will relate to surveys collected by the Office for National
Statistics, including the General Household Survey and Labour Force
Survey; surveys collected by the National Centre for Social Research such
as the British Social Attitudes Survey and Health Survey for England and
Longitudinal Surveys such as the British Household Panel Study.
