(Cardiovascular Screening and Mental Health Projects)
Statistician: Research Fellow 1A.
Up to £24121 pa plus London Weighting, NI and SA
You will be a core member of a new research team investigating and developing ways of improving the cardiovascular health of people with severe mental illness (SMI). Our definition of severe mental illness includes people with illnesses such as bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia and other chronic mental illnesses.
The work is funded by a Medical Research Council grant.
Your main work will involve working on the General Practice Research Database, investigating associations between SMI and a variety of physical health outcomes. The principal investigators have some experience of working with this data source.
As well as general statistical support to the CASMH projects, you will also assist with the completion of a systematic review in the field.
You will be committed and enthusiastic, with a flexible outlook. You will work in close collaboration with the principal investigators and may be responsible for data analysis, presentation and planning, and the writing of reports.
The person will have experience in research studies and preferably in working with large databases. Applicants will have a first or upper second level degree in a related subject and will ideally hold a MSc or equivalent higher degree. You should be familiar with Access and Stata. Candidates will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with a fine attention to detail. In addition, they will hold excellent written and verbal communication skills and be IT proficient .
The post is available for up to 10 months, with review after three months.
