Cancer Research UK Epidemiology Unit
University of Oxford
£11,571 p.a. Three years fixed term.
The vision of Cancer Research UK is to conquer cancer through world-class
research. We are the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to
cancer research, spending £191m a year on cutting-edge research into
treating, preventing and curing cancer.
Two Cancer Research UK studentships are available, each funded for three
years, to study aspects of cancer epidemiology. Projects will be based at
the Epidemiology Unit in Oxford, and students will be registered with an
Oxford College as a probationary research student, leading to a DPhil. The
research will be in the field of cancer epidemiology, studying the
relationships of diet, hormones and lifestyle factors with cancer risk.
The Cancer Research UK Epidemiology Unit is part of the University of
Oxford and is funded by Cancer Research UK and the Medical Research
Council. The main emphasis of research in the Epidemiology Unit is on
providing reliable evidence on the relationships of diet, hormones and
infectious agents with the development of cancer. The Units main studies
are the Million Women Study and EPIC-Oxford. The Unit also leads several
International Collaborations.
Applicants should possess or expect to obtain an upper second or
