CALL FOR STATISTICIAN WITH EXPERIENCE IN HEALTHCARE STATISTICS
A vacancy has arisen for a statistician to join the Scientific Panel and nominations are invited.
The Panel is looking for someone with experience in healthcare statistics and preferably with an interest in physiotherapy research. Individuals must be able to make a valuable contribution to the work of the Panel and have experience in the following areas:
· medical / bio statistics
· a range of research methodologies
· reviewing grant applications
· knowledge of research carried out by allied health professionals advantageous
The Scientific Panel administers research awards to members on behalf of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)* and provides a peer review forum for abstracts submitted to the CSP annual congress.
The term of office will be four years. All travelling and subsistence expenses are paid for attendance at meetings. Two meetings are held each year in November & April.
Nominations should include a personal statement from the candidate, highlighting the expertise they would bring to the Panel, together with a copy of their curriculum vitae.
The closing date for nominations is 28th July 2004. The successful nominee should be available to take up their position on the Panel on 1st September in time for the next round of funding applications. The next meeting of the Panel is scheduled for 18th & 19th November 2004.

* The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) represents Britain's 42,000 chartered physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and assistants. The Society combines the roles of professional body, educational body and independent trade union. The CSP administers research awards to members through a Scientific Panel. The Panel is composed of academics and clinicians who make decisions about the awarding of grants and awards for research and research-related activity carried out by physiotherapists. This includes the funds of the Physiotherapy Research Foundation (PRF) [awarded annually] and the Robert Williams Award [awarded every four years]. The Panel also provides a peer review forum for abstracts submitted to the CSP annual Congress.
