SENIOR STATISTICIAN/BIOMATHEMATICIANREQUIREMENTS:A PhD or equivalent
in statistics/biostatistics or biomathematics with a background in
communicable diseases Proven track record of research in communicable
diseases DUTIES:Assist in the planning of surveillance programmes and
analysis of dataDevelopment of appropriate protocols for the analysis of
data required by interrogation of existing database of the
NHLSDevelopment of modeling protocols to investigate the behaviour of
communicable diseases in South AfricaAssist in the planning of
appropriate interventions BIOSTATISTICIANREQUIREMENTS: BSc(Hons) with
major in statisticsKnowledge of statistics in a biological
environmentKnowledge of computer based statistical packages such as SAS,
EpiInfo and others.
Good writing skills and ability to publish manuscripts in scientific
journals
Advance computer skills DUTIES: Processing of communicable diseases
data from databasesAnalysis of data and reporting of significance of
surveillance information
Providing statistical support for reports and research objectsProviding
assistance in publishing manuscripts in scientific journals
