CHAIR OF STATISTICS

The University of Edinburgh has a series
of initiatives to integrate the physical
and life sciences. As part of this we
wish to appoint a leading statistician
with an outstanding research record and
strong academic leadership ability to
establish strategic links between
mathematics and biology. The successful
candidate will occupy the Chair of
Staistics in the School of Mathematics
and will be formally associated with the
School of Biological Sciences.
You will have outstanding expertise in
the development and application of
statistics in post-genomic biology and
bioinformatics. You will provide the
intellectual leadership to create
innovative research links between
mathematics and the life sciences or to
forge wider interdisciplinary
collaborations. In doing so you will
work with existing and developing
interdisciplinary structures such as the
Edinburgh Centre for Bioinformatics and
Biomathematics & Statistics Scotland.
You will also make an imaginative
contribution to the undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes in statistics
offered by the School of Mathematics.
