TOPICS
The data available from the various genome projects allow for the
first time to build realistic models of genetic interactions in
a cell. While there is still limited knowledge of the underlying
biological mechanisms and functionalities, complex networked
systems have emerged in the postgenomics era as the new paradigm
in molecular biology.
Accordingly, data analysts are now challenged to develop
corresponding complex large-scale models of stochastic systems
with many interacting variables. Due to the "small n, large p"
character of current molecular data, inference and modeling pose
particularly hard problems and typically require advanced and
novel statistical techniques.
This meeting aims to bring together state-of-the-art researchers
working, e.g., on methods for
* graphical models and multiple time series,
* inference of high-dimensional models, and
* dynamics of complex systems
with focus on application areas such as
* genetic networks,
* gene expression analysis, and
* systems biology.
Experimental researchers working in these fields are also highly
welcome.
This workshop may also be considered as an (inofficial)
statistical satellite conference to ICSB 2004, the 5th International
Conference on Systems Biology that takes place in
Heidelberg (October 9-13, 2004).
REGISTRATION
We invite applications for contributed talks (of length 25 minutes)
and for poster presentations. Please submit a title plus a one-page
abstract until
Friday, 30 July 2004.
Contributions by Ph.D. students and junior postdocs are particulary
encouraged.
If you want to participate, or you would like to present a poster rather
than a talk, registration is open until September 15, 2004. Note,
however, that there will be a limit of about 75 participants.
Please check the meeting web site for details of registration.
FEES
Students: free
Postdocs: 25 EUR
Senior scientists: 50 EUR
Industry: 100 EUR
