Medical Statistician/Analyst, A&C6 (£20,876-£24,424) Pro-rata for part-time
Post reference: AS167
Both posts are full-time 37 hours; however part-time hours and/or job share
will be considered
Cancer registries are facing many challenges to meet the information demands
of the national cancer agenda. NYCRIS requires two motivated medical
statisticians to help deliver a first class service locally and nationally.
These posts are suitable for anyone who has previously worked in public
health analysis and/or epidemiology. They provide an excellent opportunity
to contribute to the changing agenda of cancer services and ongoing
epidemiological research. Both positions will be involved in providing
expert statistical input and advice relating to all NYCRIS cancer
information outputs which include reports, scientific papers and electronic
products, and playing a key role in an ongoing programme of epidemiological
research. There will be involvement in all aspects of project design and
analysis, both in-house and collaborative, which utilise NYCRIS data.
Suitability for appointment to the different posts is dependent on a
combination of qualifications and experience ranging from a degree in
mathematics/statistics combined with one year of relevant experience to a
postgraduate qualification in Medical Statistics or equivalent with a
minimum of two years relevant experience. Good communication skills and the
ability to work within a multidisciplinary team are essential for both
posts. These posts also provide an opportunity to work with the
Biostatistics Unit at the University of Leeds, with which an honorary
contract would be arranged. Part-time hours and/or job share opportunities
will be considered.
