Position Summary:
We currently seek a Technical Support Specialist for either our Kilburn Office in London, or our Woking office in Surrey. The Technical Support Specialist will provide telephone and e-mail technical support to customers and billable consultants with regard to SPSS products and customer applications. This position is to cover maternitiy leave and will initially be for 6 months with a possibility to extend to 12 months and beyond. Start date will be early January 2005.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate resolution of complex technical problems in all areas of assigned products by collecting the necessary documentation or recreating in house, keeping the customer updated on the status of reported problems and ensuring CRM system is updated with current information on cases and with information regarding problem resolutions. Insure the customer’s satisfaction with their SPSS purchase by representing SPSS to the customer.
Provide customers with suggestions and methods of utilizing their SPSS products to provide the business value they require.
Provide assistance to SPSS and business partner consultants in resolving customer problems and implementing solutions utilizing SPSS products.
Insure bug fixes resolve the customer’s problem to their satisfaction. Work with development/support to insure their understanding of the customer’s problem.
Support beta accounts as assigned

Position Qualifications:
Proficient in verbal and written English and Swedish. Other languages an advantage.
Previous technical support experience.
Good understanding of statistics and experience with statistical applications ie SPSS.
Strongly analytical skills.
Demonstrated team player with ability to learn complex technical material.
Demonstrated high level of self-motivation with a strong desire to solve problems.
Demonstrated outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to maintain self control while defusing stressful customer situations
Demonstrated knowledge of MS Windows desktop and server environments
Demonstrated knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL
Demonstrated knowledge of multidimensional database, data warehousing and data mining concepts is a plus
Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle, Unix and/or SQL Server is a plus
Knowledge and experience with HTTP and/or FTP servers is a plus
Knowledge and experience with standard Windows desktop applications such as Excel or Access
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related study
