The Position:
The University of Melbourne is seeking
to fill the Chair of Statistics in the Department of
Mathematics and Statistics within the Faculty of Science.
Applications are invited for this position.
The Statistics Chair has been vacant since 2002.
The Person:
The appointee will have made a substantial
contribution to any area of Statistics. The appointee
will have the academic and management strength to
provide leadership and innovation. The appointee's
outstanding research and teaching will have given the
appointee a broad outlook and will provide links to
the research and teaching in other areas of the Department.
The achievements of the appointee will provide the
capacity and determination to actively strengthen
interactions with other disciplines, industry and the
community. Excellent skills in communication with
a diverse range of people are essential.
The Benefits:
The total remuneration package is in the vicinity of
$132,350. In addition, provisions exist for four
weeks annual leave and for study leave.
All academic staff may earn additional personal
income from external consulting subject to the conditions
approved by the Council of the University. Some
elements of the remuneration package may be salary packaged.
Duration: This Chair is offered on a continuing basis.
