Research Associate in Statistics

A post-doctoral research position is available to work on an exciting
research project in statistics, with applications in computing science
and system control engineering. The project is funded by the EPSRC for
a period of thirty months beginning 1st January 2005 or as soon as
possible thereafter. Applicants should have (or be near to
completing) a PhD in Statistics or a related discipline. Knowledge of
Bayesian statistics, computational statistics, MCMC, stochastic
processes and software development would be advantageous, but training
and support will be available as required. The appointee will be based
in the School of Mathematics & Statistics (http://www.ncl.ac.uk/math/)
and spend some time developing techniques applied to rehabilitation
engineering in collaboration with the Centre for Systems and Control
at Glasgow University and other institutes.
