I'm trying to find out how institutions manage their exam boards in a
semesterised structure.
In particular, I'm interested in whether separate exam boards are held
after the semester 1 assessments, or whether the semester 1 assessment
results are "provisional" until the exam boards later on in the summer. I
know that there are pros and cons to both approaches. At the moment, we
have exam boards to ratify module marks after every semester, which may
not be an efficient use of time and resource.
I'd therefore be grateful if you could spare a minute to answer the
following :
Assuming that your institution has assessment periods at the end of each
semester, do you have a separate exam board to ratify the results of
semester 1 assessments, or are the marks "provisional" until ratified in
the summer exam board, after semester 2.
If you can reply directly to me, I'll post a summary of the reults
afterwards. Thanks for all your help.
