Dear Colleagues,
At Queen's we use anonymous codes (5 digits) and the students'
seat numbers as identifiers.
Both identifiers are printed on students' personal exam timetables
which they copy on to their answer booklet(s) and any related
stationery.
The identifiers are also printed on invigialtion lists. If one
is missing from an answer book the other is used to track
the missing one or it may not, in which case one code is sufficient.
The invigialtion lists are in 3-part NCR sets.
The first copy is returned to the Exams Office (names and codes).
The second copy is inserted into a special envelope and sent to
the person responsible for breaking anonymity (as close to the
exam board meeting as possible).
Markers receive the third copy (codes only).
Self seal materials are not required.
The system works well.
We do not officially apply anonymity to courswork/continuous
assessment although a small number of departments use their
own systems.
I hope this helps.
