Dear Colleagues
There has been much publicity recently about the roll out of EMAs to all
16-18 year olds for the next academic year.
We have been processing EMA's for the past couple of years for students from
a couple of London Boroughs who have participated in the pilot scheme. This
has been a manual process of producing weekly timetables for students to
collect from Student Service and to take around to the course tutors for
their signatures.
This academic year we have purchased Tokairo, an attendance monitoring
system and following the successful implementation of this across the
College, we are to pilot next term at our largest centre a system of using
reports from Tokairo to confirm student's attendance. This will cut down the
involvement of the student and rely on the timely, completion and return of
the registers, by the teaching to enable admin staff to scan the registers.
Our biggest concern is how to cope with EMA's in September and the first
half term, when we are working with temporary registers because many class
groups have not been sorted.
I would like to hear how others of you cope with this.
Thank you
Ann Keenan
