The Pedestrian Association was a pressure group committed to fighting
for the rights of pedestrians (obviously). Living Streets is the
rebranded development of that. I think they were working with Central
Government - or at least 'pressuring' them regarding walking strategies
etc. I went to a meeting in London where they were one of several
speakers.
At that meeting I was concerned about their knowledge of disability
issues in the street environment, and I (cynically) wonder whether this
is another tool for them to get their agenda up the list a bit.

Subject: [ACCESSIBUILT] Living Streets
Does anyone know about a charity called Living Streets formally known as
the Pedestrian Association. They are organising workshops in London,
Liverpool, Leicester and York in which they will "unpack the
implications of the DDA for the streetscape". This will take them half
an hour. They are also going to explain how to do a street audit and
present findings.
Their promotion forms are not at all easy to read (using red lettering
on a green background) and it seems to be quite expensive. If you want
to find out more you can access their web pages on
www.livingstreets.org.uk - the website does seem on the face of it to be
easy to read although it does not carry any of the web accessibility
symbols.
