Thank you for all your help. I agree that a compromise should be the
solution but so far one can't be found. I also believe Sue has a valid point
in that parents meeting teachers and visiting for school concerts or school
fairs etc. probably fall under part 3.
The Head has identified that the carpark is a high-risk area for children
and has identified at least 2 parents needing access because of a
disability. She also points out there is a parent who is a wheelchair user
who has not so far asked for access to the car park. The head is afraid of
"opening the floodgates" and being deluged with requests from grandparents
with blue badges also wanting to have access privileges.
They have looked at parent support but this has been refused. I am at a loss
to advise because the two sides seem so entrenched in their standpoints.
I will keep you informed as to the outcome.
