Hi John & Elizabeth
I did not mean to say there should be no provision as people will try to
keep their children dependent instead of encouraging independence.
On the children's side I'll stick to the health promotion and 'special
needs' aspects.
As you note parents delivering and collecting children at schools are a
problem for people with low vision and mobility. They are also a safety
hazard for other motorists and those getting into and out of the cars.
Limited provision by early arrival could be made for those children who need
the travel, If there is limited space better solution would be to provide a
drop bay and tell some of the teachers to walk as an example to their
pupils. Teaching is not just telling, it should involve leadership and that
requires a positive example not just a statement of position while doing the
opposite.
