Dear All,
In response to my original query regarding door closing pressure, Graham
replied and asked me to forward to the Forum the ODPM (BR) response.
See message below relating to ODPM response to my query about door closers
- I can't access the Accessibuilt list, could you post it for me?
Thanks

John and others: I received the message below today from ODPM re: door
closers, in response to an enquiry I made.

Dear Graham
We are aware that there may be some detailed design challenges
associated with Part M and the use of self-closing doors. We have
therefore recently been in discussions with the relevant stakeholders
within the industry and have agreed to assist them in the preparation of an
industry guidance document on the subject.
The revision of guidance on door closers in BS 8300:2001 is also being
considered by a BSI Working Party.
However, I cannot confirm whether or not a letter is to be sent to
local authorities in the near future.
Yours sincerely
PARTM BR

Dear all
I have just heard a rumour that this is being revised because the ODPM have
realised it is difficult to achieve. The ODPM said they were going to write
to all local authorities advising them of this and the new opening force,
which I understand will be 38n.
Has anyone heard anything about this.
