Dear All,
Can you help me with a problem. Exiting a footbridge there is side by side
a cattlegrid and a swing gate, roughly 1m wide. The Gate swings in one
direction, has a pull weight of 10 Newtons an is a steele triangle, with
the square edges being the top bar and edge nearest the post it is hung on.
The bridge goes onto the common which still has cattle on so the gate needs
to swing shut, This means wheelchair users find it difficult. One resident
is very put out by this, he is paralysed on one side, uses an electic
scooter and needs a solution to getting through the gate in both directions.
For the gate there is a nearby electricity supply (though a power assisated
gate isn't too appropiate), any solution needs to be vandal resistant,
weather proof, low maintenance, heavy duty and not too costly. I think an
easy form of gate rather than powering the existing gate is the answer, has
anyone any suggestions or details of accessible gate manufacturers.
