The most interesting point is that the Society of Chiropodists actively
supported the formation of the HPC. Although they now squirm somewhat,
their Chairperson immediately preceeding the HPC was 'appointed' as the
chiropody/podiatry representative on that body.
I don't find ot strange to be in agreement with Mark Russell, although there
are many areas in which he is incorrect - outwith the area of this
discussion - BUT the Society is gaining financially by the legislation.
I telephoned the HPC on 5 occasions today. The automated system simply
states 'sorry, this number is unobtainable' - and that's just the operator.
This grossly inefficient group of civil servants - one can harly describe it
as an organisation since that is a contradiction in terms - is now touting
itself as the guardian of Continuing Professional Education. Don't fall for
it! After the usual round of 'consultations' they will do what they first
thought of and badly at that.
