Dear Readers
[Please excuse the cross-postings.]
This is just a reminder that the deadline for submission of bids on this
system is in two weeks, ie Friday 3 September 2004 at 12:00 Noon (Auckland
time).
It has come to our attention that there have been some 'rumours' circulating
which question the condition of this system ("Since they are selling it,
there must be something wrong with it").
First, this system has been meticulously maintained and has been in use on a
virtual daily basis since it was originally purchased. It reliably produces
high-quality data and we believe it will continue to do so for some time to
come.
Second, to answer the question as to why we are selling it (given the
above), our answer is this: we had an opportunity to purchase another system
which gave us certain features we needed to support a new programme of
research for less money than it would have cost to upgrade our existing
system. Since the latter still has, we believe, good market value, this
seemed the appropriate time to sell it.
If anyone has any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
