Ralph,
I understand that the York Health Economics Consortium declined the
Society's request to undertake an economic evaluation of the profession in
Britain as a prelude to a wider review. This, I take it, was your preferred
option over the independent review that we discussed last October.
I am also given to understand that the alternate strategy to persuade
government to increase podiatry funding, is to sit on the coat-tails of
patient representative groups such as Age Concern and Help the Aged, whilst
they undertake their own lobbying, in the hope that it may raise awareness
of the profession's plight. Could you be so kind as to confirm whether this
is accurate or not?
If so, do you have any other plans to commission a profession-wide review
or can I take it the idea has been shelved for the time being?
Thanks in anticipation.
Mark Russell
