Hello Mailbase,
I'm doing some reading around the area and I'm interested to know which method of placement of reference points people are using to determine the longitudinal axes of the first and second metatarsals in order to measure the 1-2 IM angle on a DP radiograph for planning and evaluation of osteotomies on the first metatarsal for treatment of Hallux Valgus. I appreciate that this is only one aspect of presurgical assessment and is not necessarily well correlated with a favourable patient outcome.
In the literature I've looked at so far there is quite a bit of variability between proposed methods measuring the same angles (pre and post op, intra and inter-rater.)
Thanks,
Anthony Murphy
