Friday and Saturday 23rd /24th April, 2004
The 2nd conference on clinical biomechanics will be hosted by
Staffordshire University in association with the Podiatric Biomechanics
Group at the University Campus, Stoke on Trent.
This conference, while providing a forum for information dissemination
on clinical biomechanics, will facilitate discussion on research and
case studies in the field of applied biomechanical principles to the
treatment of patients and foot protection. This conference will focus
on lower limb biomechanics with an emphasis on therapeutic and sports
footwear.
The conference will give opportunities to participate in workshops/
instructional lectures. There will be debate and analysis of issues
surrounding current models of clinical biomechanics and their role in
providing clinical understanding and effective treatment of patients.
Scientific sessions include the following Keynote Presentations.
1)Has Biomechanics Influenced Footwear Development? Dr. Joseph Hamill,
University of Massachusetts, Amherst. 2)Can we protect the diabetic
foot? Dr. Mike Edmonds, Kings College, London. 3)The study of shoe wear
patterns: a new foundation for clinical understanding, Dr. Wesley
Vernon, Sheffield.
