Dear Bruce and all,
Congratulations for taking the effort and time to go trough this teach-in.
Actually the paper which lies on the basis of the teach-in is from my
co-worker Friso Hagman here at our lab.
He is indeed preparing a PhD exploring how far one can predict or simulate
foot and eventually ankle kinematics purely starting from plantar foot
pressure data.
It is a really challenging and promising topic extending the functionality
of the cheaper pressure ( as compared by cinematographical) measurement
system.
I do not think we`ll come to the point that pressure data will be enough to
predict full kinematics of the lower limb, but simply exploring what
kinematics can be retrieved reliably from pressure data, creates
speculative but promising prospects. It is an interesting nomansland with
hidden treasures.
If you have more questions, feel free to ask
Regards to all
Bart
