Philip,
I agree fully with Bart. There are even studies where inappropriate and/or incomplete prescriptions (orthotics) were made with respect to the actual foot and/or gait related condition. Extrapolating on Bart's words; administering (prescribing) inappropriate drug to wrong sickness. The drug will show no results or inappropriate effects as is it not addressing the sickness (issue at hand).
Cheers,
Norman

Hello Philip,
You asked the important question:
>Does the orthoses have to be necessarily applicable to a client group.
It is my view that it does, because so many studies failed to show
differences between various orthose because they were applied to people
who did not need them. In these way these orthoses could not function
properly as they were devised to correct a certain problem which was not
present.
It is like administering a drug to a non-sick person. The drug will show
no results as there was nothing to work on.
Succes,
Bart
