You asked the important question:

It is my view that it does, because so many studies failed to show
differences between various orthose because they were applied to people
who did not need them. In these way these orthoses could not function
properly as they were devised to correct a certain problem which was not
present.
It is like administering a drug to a non-sick person. The drug will show
no results as there was nothing to work on.
