Dear Colleagues,
The Amfit orthotic is a bulk device. I have been using various bulk devices
for more than 25 years. I have used orthotics of Leather laminates, Leather
Rubber butter, Leather pelite (or plastizote), Leather Subortholene Rubber
butter, Leather Subortholene Pelite (or plastizote).
Bulk devices give excellent control of the foot if used correctly. The
Leather top shell gives an indication of pressure and function. The
advantage to a leather bulk device is that posting can be placed directly
under the metatarsal heads, so there is real posting. The disadvantage to
using the pelite is that there is compression set that occurs in 3 months
or so of running. I tend to repair this with corex, which does not have a
compression set problem.
Respectfully,
Stanley
