She is using Sodium Hydroxide in preference to phenol and should have all the references you require.

Subject: sodium hydroxide and wound healing
Hello. I am a student looking into the wound healing times and differences,
following nail surgery, when using sodium hydroxide as an alternative to phenol
as a nail ablator. Can anyone suggest any literature that is worth taking a
look at.Thanks.
