Excellent website! How hilarious.
I'm not familiar with Duraflex; what's it made out of?
Thanks,
Maire Murphy

Subject: Re: Suitability of orthotic materials in extreme cold
Hi Marie
I use a composite material, Duraflex for alot of my orthoses.
Will this stand up to extreme temperatures and excessive exercise, you ask?
Here's a story....
Referrer: Can you see this patient urgently?
Me: No problem, why the urgency?
Referrer: I'll let the patient tell you why.
Patient: I am doing a marathon in 4 weeks and it is for charity, I must do
it.
Me: Great, cutting it a bit fine to break them in but we can do it. Where
is the marathon - Dublin? London? New York?
Patient: No, the North Pole.
Me: Sorry?
Patient: You heard me.
He did too, with no problems with orthoses and no pain. Check out

Mad but true.
Marie, it should not be a problem if you believe in the material you use,
however I would contact the original manufacturer if in doubt. They would
have put their material to extreme testing during the design. Not all
plastics react the same at extreme temperatures.
Good luck.
