Paul,
I'm not sure we are insured to do manipulation of the superior tibio-fibular
area. We are more open to litigation here in the UK.

Dear All
I am stunned to think that as podiatrists you are not performing
mobilisation and/or manipulation to the feet, ankle and fibula including
the superior tibio fibular joint.
I cannot see how treatment to the foot and ankle has anything to do with
any other profession than your own, let alone farming it out to others.
This leads to too many cooks and in the case of the peroneal tendinitis,
it appears that this is happening.
I fully agree with the others in regard to other professionals treating
the joints of the foot and ankle. Most have no idea when it comes to
treating the ankle and foot, but are only too willing to write it on paper
that they have done this and that. Examination soon shows that their
claims are false. This is a VERY common experience in my practice.
I teach an open/loose pack position mobilisation. Using this technique one
can move all the bones/joints of the foot with less than 2Kg of pressure.
Thus this technique can be applied to the most tender foot/joint the young
and the osteoporotic elderly, those recovering from the classical
navicular stress fracture.
By the way Jarvier,
I managed to make it to the UK for the RXlabs to learn some new
information and I live in Australia. I am never to old to learn something
new and especially if that something can improve my patient care.
Paul Conneely.
