I would like to make it absolutely clear that I made no legal threat to
either Ralph Graham or the Society in my submission. With respect, I find
your comments unhelpful and misdirected; I am merely trying to establish
the facts regarding how the Society arrived at the position where they are
at just now. I hold no grudge against Ralph and these comments should not
be seen as a personal attack but there is such a notion called
accountability. If the proper procedures were followed and membership
consulted, then I see no difficulty whatsoever. If I can take you back
Ray, to the summer of 1998, you will recall you also came in line for
criticism regarding your statements on Tim Kilmartin's paper. You stated
that you had the greatest of respect for Tim and your enquiry was merely
profesional in nature. That is exactly the same basis of my enquiry to
Ralph.

For the record, I have great respect, not only for Ralph, but for many of
his compatriots in the Society. I may hold differeing opinions regarding
ther operational nature and direction of this profession, but they are
just opinions - the same as in the field of biomechanics - where there is
constant disagreement between the parties. I happen to think this
important; by allowing parity of membership, the Society is in effect
endorsing the defective legislature of the HPC and this makes securing an
independent regulator much more difficult. If this was done by consent of
the majority, then so be it. I am merely questioning whether that is the
case.

In that respect I look forward to clarification on this issue once and for
all. Have a nice weekend.

Sincerely

Mark Russell
