Hi there,
if you go to our site www.theglasgowstory.com and select an image you can see
the keywords attached to the image when you move your cursor over it. We have
tried to use intuitive, straightforward terms (based partly on thesauri of terms
already in use in Glasgow organisations such as the Mitchell Library) so that
users can easily find images without having to understand classification systems
at all. They can also search the site for images using people's names, areas,
time periods etc.
We used Library of Congress for our metadata, though it is not entirely
satifactory for this kind of project and users cannot search the site using
these terms.
hope this helps
