Dear Colleagues,
We have been having problems accessing the Design and Applied Arts
Index ever since it moved on to Cambridge Scientific Abstracts'
Internet Data Service platform. Basically an error message appears every
time a search is attempted. The message can vary from workstation to
workstation, but amounts to it being unable to open or find the search
results page. It is possible to get the results to display by playing
around with the Back and Refresh buttons but, clearly, we cannot expect
our readers to do this. We have had no previous problems with other CSA
hosted databases, Art Bibliographies Modern and the British Humanities
Index.
CSA think that the problem is to do with our firewall or DNS. Our
systems staff think that the problem is a 'timing error' with CSA. The
Library is left in the middle, unable to offer a database of proven use
to our readers.
Has anyone else encountered this problem or similar? Any thoughts would
be very welcome.
Regards,
Marc Ward
