A Day in the Life of an E-Journal Librarian
Wednesday 7 July 2004
British Library of Political and Economic Science, LSE, London WC2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This one-day seminar will highlight the challenges posed by electronic
journals and the new skills required to deal with them. It will also cover
related areas in serials management such as budgetary control, purchasing
decisions and collection management, as well as considering the user
perspective and the role of publishers, agents and aggregators. Four
speakers will provide practical insights into the diverse and demanding
range of activities associated with the management of electronic journal
collections in the library environment.
The seminar is aimed at librarians, information specialists, publishers,
subscription agents, and those working elsewhere in the serials world who
wish to know more about the strategic and practical issues surrounding the
management and acquisition of e-journals in a library environment. There
will be an opportunity for informal group discussion in which to share
experiences of the topics raised in the presentations, together with a tour
of the new LSE Library.
