MetaLib/SFX Support Consultant
Following our continued success, Ex Libris are expanding the MetaLib/SFX
Support Team and are looking for experienced Information Professionals to
join this growing department to undertake the implementation and support of
these products for the UK and selected European markets. As the role is
based in the United Kingdom, applicants must be a U.K. citizen or have
authorisation to work in the U.K.
Background:
MetaLib our portal software provides access to library information systems.
Library patrons can find databases, journals, archives and catalogues that
are relevant to their area of research and then search those resources
simultaneously using MetaLib's uniform interface. MetaLib incorporates SFX,
a link server that fits into the OpenURL framework of context-sensitive
reference linking for libraries. SFX is also sold independently of MetaLib.

Your work will include:
* Project Management of MetaLib/SFX implementations. This will
involve coordinating software installations and upgrades, first line support
to customers and close liaison with the global MetaLib and SFX teams.
* Customer training, requiring travel (including other European
countries and the U.S.A.)
* Working with Sales staff to develop concise and meaningful
training and documentation packages for customers.
* Pre-sales support, participating in presentations or phone calls
with prospects and/or answering questions of both a functional and technical
nature.
* Providing support for MetaLib/SFX administrators at customer sites
on the tools available for local configuration, both during and after
product implementation. Liaising with the global support groups as required.
* Communicating customer issues and requests to the members of the
development team for resolution and possible inclusion in future product
releases.
* Other duties as required.
We're looking for someone with these qualities:
* A keen interest in, and enthusiasm for, developments in library
and information science
* Ability to lead several projects simultaneously; from concept to
implementation to post implementation follow up and analysis.
* Experience with UNIX - Solaris and/or Linux - and systems
administration desirable; familiarity with Oracle and/or SQL desirable.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of MARC formats and cataloguing preferred
* Experience using scholarly databases (Ovid, SilverPlatter, CSA,
EBSCO, Gale, OCLC, etc...)
Experience required:
* Bachelor's Degree mandatory
* Masters Degree in Library or Information Science, or equivalent is
highly desirable.
* 2+ years experience in libraries or library/information services
companies is highly desirable.
