Dear Lesley-
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The ISSN for this title did
change at some point and seems that an old page which should have been
removed was left in place. This is being fixed and the content will be
brought up to date on all servers. Apologies for the inconvenience this has
caused you.
We are aware that on occasions the IngentaSelect servers get out of synch
with each other. Whilst we are continually working to prevent these
problems from occurring, some do slip through the net and affect our users.
This is one of the reasons that we will be retiring IngentaSelect and its
server network later this year.
A preview of the site that will replace IngentaSelect will be available
soon. It has a completely different and vastly more reliable
infrastructure. More details about the site, our plans for its launch and
the steps that we will take to ensure a smooth cutover from IngentaSelect
can be found on the "Integration News" pages - accessible from the homepages
of IngentaSelect and Ingenta.com.

Subject: Another example of where a link to a journal is being
redirected on some ingenta select servers, but not on others
Hi,
Many of the problems we have found ourselves facing are what may be
considered just minor irritations by some members of this list, however
minor or not they cause us and our users no end of grief. The list of
problems we've faced so far this year are full of these minor irritations.
This is an example I accidentally hit on a few moments ago, which
illustrates this well.
We had the following link to ingenta select for a T&F title: Journal of
Intellectual and Developmental Disability on our OPAC -
http://www.ingentaselect.com/rpsv/catchword/carfax/1326978x/contp1.htm.
Whilst checking content on Ingenta Select I found that the link was being
redirected to "the correct publisher and ISSN for this title
"http://www.ingentaselect.com/rpsv/cw/tandf/13668250/contp1-1.htm. On the
journal page it said that this journal was formerly published by Carfax. The
server I arrived on was lysander. The latest content on this server was Vol.
28(4) (2003)
On checking our catalogue I again followed the "old" link but this time was
not redirected but taken to a page where the last issue for this title was
Vol. 25(4) (2000) !! The server I arrived on first was leporello and when I
tried the link again I ended up on konstanza again with the latest content
being Vol. 25(4) (2000)!! The next time I tried the link I ended up on
fiordiliji where the content was up to date. After that I ended up on puck
where again the content was up to date.
I have a number of comments re: this:
1. Why has the ISSN changed for this title - was it just a case that an
incorrect ISSN had been used for this journal previously and has now been
corrected?
2. Why is redirection for this title not available on all servers - the
consequence of this is that sometimes are users are being directed to
content that is way behind what is available on other servers. It appears to
be a matter of good or bad luck where one ends up.
3. This isn't the first time that we had this situation where the imprint in
the URL has changed because of some reorganization of T&F imprints. Many of
our links contain T&F imprints within them i.e. carfax, routledg - are
others of these going to change as well?
4. Why are out of date pages still sitting on the servers of ingentaselect?
Of course, we will now change the link we had to the new one so our users
don't have to run the risk of ending up on an out of date page. Afterall we
don't have anything better to do with our time, do we??
Cheers
Lesley
