Hello
We’re debating the pros and cons of moving to electronic-only for parts of
our journal collections.
If you have a policy on this, or have recently taken action to move to
electronic-only for all / part of your journal collections, could you
spend 5 minutes replying to these questions? If you’re not the right
person, please help me out by forwarding this message to someone who is.
Please respond directly to [log in to unmask] and I’ll summarise for
the list (the summary will not refer to specific institutions!)
Have you:
1. withdrawn print back copies of titles that are included in “bundled”
electronic archive deals like JSTOR? Yes No
If Yes, please give reason(s):
2. stopped taking print for titles included in major ongoing “bundled”
deals such as Science Direct (i.e. moved to electronic-only for
these)? Yes No
If Yes, please give reason(s):
3. decided that all new individual journal subscriptions should
be ‘electronic-only’, unless electronic is not available? Yes No
If Yes, please give reason(s):
4. decided to purchase both print and electronic for individual titles but
to withdraw print after a certain period of time (e.g. 2-5 years). Yes No
If Yes, please give reason(s):
5. Optional: Having made these decisions, what are your concerns about the
future in terms of archival arrangements, non-cancellation policies,
future price increases, reliability of access, etc.? Any other comments?
Thanks for your help with this.
Nick
