Subject: Symposium on 'Ruins'
Dear Jason,
I am organising a symposium on 'Ruins' under the auspices of ISAIAH (our
Heritage Institute)with the Holburne Museum and The MSc in the
Conservation of Historic Buildings course to take place at the museum in
Bath in the spring of next year (2005). The idea is to look at new
approaches to the display and presentation of ruins, looking at
particular sites as case studies, e.g. Wigmore Castle and Orford Ness,
and discussing what has changed etc since the Ministry of Works heavy
handed approach. It would also look at innovative ways of combining the
Picturesque with the Archaeological. I would like the National Trust
and English Heritage to be involved in this symposium and wonder if you
could suggest possible speakers, potential topics etc from your
organisation to contribute?
Any help you can give me on this would be gratefully received.
Best regards,
Marion
