Invitation
The Archaeology Data Service / AHDS Archaeology is holding a one-day
workshop at the King's Manor, University of York, on Wednesday 26th
January 2005. The workshop will map current and future developments in
the fields of online accessibility and digital archiving for researchers
in the HE sector. It is designed to assist and support the creation,
dissemination and use of high quality digital research resources in
archaeology. It will inform the development of new funding applications
by highlighting strategic issues of concern to those who fund projects.
It will repeat the successful formula of a workshop first held in 2002.
Who should come?
Researchers who are...
* Holders of major research grants from the AHRB, the British Academy,
NERC, Leverhulme or the like
* Holders of digitisation or resource enhancement grants from bodies
such as the AHRB, the Heritage Lottery Fund, etc.
* Those intending to apply for any of the above
* Unfunded researchers in the HE sector
* Researchers who have completed significant research projects in the
last five years
* Graduate students on the verge of completing their research or
post-doctoral fellows at any stage in their research
Outline Programme:
The Workshop will open with coffee and registration at 1030, beginning
in earnest at 1100. A final programme will be presented on the day.
Topics will include:
* Digital resources in research
* Funding research and digitisation in archaeology
* Publication and digital archiving in archaeology
* Intellectual property rights
* Good practice in the curation and creation
Participants are also invited to identify topics to discuss with experts
at informal surgery sessions.
