Dear Edmund,
Discovey was the key driver for our decision to use the Dublin Core metadata
schema in PictureAustralia, www.pictureaustralia.org.
PictureAustralia contains almost one million records now, harvested from
participating agencies.
The Dublin Core metadata is usually generated from other, sometimes richer
sets of metadata. For example, libraries who are participants map their
metadata from MARC21 to the Dublin Core. All of the participants generate
the metadata themselves before it is harvested by the National Library.
But both sets of metadata are available to the searcher because the Dublin
Core record links to both the image and its accompanying record.
See http://www.pictureaustralia.org/metadata.html for the metadata
guidelines.
regards,
Debbie
