Subject: Reconstruction 4.1: "Technology & Historiography"
Please forward to potentially interested parties:
We are proud to announce the latest issue of Reconstruction (vol.4,
no.1),
technology and historiography, at <http://www.reconstruction.ws>.
This
themed issue s focus is on the increasing science fictionalization of
everyday life, crises of historiography, and the relation of the past,
present and future through, and symbolized by, mediating technologies.
Included in this issue are:
Haidee Wasson s "New and Now: A Plea for Historiography and Technology"
Samuel Gerald Collins "Reading Over the Shoulder of the Future at the
Library of Congress"
Michael Gardiner s "Endless Enlightenment: Eye-Operated Technology and
the
Political Economy of Vision"
Christopher Keep s "Of Technology and Apocalypse, or Whose Independence
Day?"
Matthew Malsky s "Fantasy and the Concert Hall: Musical Performance in
the
Electroacoustic Age"
Daniel Martel s "Aircraft Picture Postcards as a Tool for Influence
Through
Images"
...as well as reviews of non-fiction and fiction.
In line with our efforts to foster intellectual community,
Reconstruction
also hosts a message board dedicated to interaction between authors and
readers, and between readers themselves, hoping to affect a more
communal
approach to, and understanding of, academic journals and intellectual
thought and action. Please take the time to participate in this
experiment
in community.
Submissions are welcome for this summer s themed issue,
Post.hu.man.ous,
and must be received by mid-March. Additionally, submissions for our
next
general issue, Fall 2004 (vol. 4, no. 3) are also being actively
solicited,
and are due mid-September for publication in October.
Please see editorial guidelines as published on the site for further
information regarding contributions to Reconstruction. Reconstruction
is a
peer-reviewed journal, ISSN: 1547-4348, indexed in the MLA International
